Golden Nuggets: Time for the OLBs to step up

Your San Francisco 49ers links for Saturday July 16th, 2016

NFL: San Francisco 49ers at Pittsburgh Steelers Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Well this is interesting; Aaron Lynch has been suspended for four games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. So much for us making it through the slow part of the offseason without anyone getting in trouble.

Thing is though, with the type of season coming up, this could be a blessing in disguise. Lynch is a stud on the field, and has shown a lot, but him being suspended for four games allows the San Francisco 49ers to see what they have with Eli Harold and Tank Carradine. With Lynch gone, it’s time for the other OLBs to step and see who can take Ahmad Brooks’s place. While Brooks seems to never get removed from the roster despite several predictions each year, he isn’t getting any younger, and there are a few outside linebackers that have a chance to make a campaign to take his starting gig in 2017 or earlier.

Here’s hoping either Eli Harold and Tank Carradine can show us some good stuff.
