The 4th of July in the Bay Area started off with a bang when news that Kevin Durant decided he would play with the Golden State Warriors. News flew through the sports world and some of the 49ers weighted in on Durant’s decision. Torrey Smith, NaVorro Bowman were excited about the news, while Ronald Blair and Keith Reaser did not care for it.
A longtime friend of Kevin Durant, NaVorro Bowman, welcomed Kevin to the Bay Area through Twitter. Kevin and NaVorro have known each other since they were 8 years old. They played on a middle school basketball team in Maryland. Bowman will no longer have an issue rooting for Kevin now that he is a part of the Warriors.
The Warriors’ catch of Kevin Durant has some people saying this is the boldest Bay Area sports move since Deion Sanders’ arrival for the 49ers. Deion’s arrival paved the way for 1994 49ers run to a Super Bowl victory. Joe Lacob is starting to be compared to Eddie DeBartolo. It’s still too early to say that, but the Warriors could have just set themselves up for a run of titles just like Eddie’s teams did when they won 5 Super Bowls.
