Strange, but when I watched the offseason with Jim Tomsula getting hired, and then that misfit coaching staff assembled, I was trying to convince myself this was a good move.
"This will work out. Jimmy T is 1.00 in the win column. He loves football, it's my fault for not seeing it." I told myself.
But in the back of my mind, I just knew this had disaster written all over it.
I bring this up because I'm not near as faking over the optimism I have for the 49ers this season. It's going to be disappointing, but I think the way they lose (something I harped on last season) will be entirely different. Chip Kelly is one of the most polarizing hires ever, yet I'm feeling much more optimistic about this season going in than last. Do I think Kelly is the answer? I don't know, I just know there's an aura so far that is making me a bit more relaxed than last year's anxiety filled offseason (the retirements didn't help). I just know this season I'm not convincing myself of anything, I'm pretty excited, actually. This is already better than last season.
