Condoleezza Rice observed 49ers practice on Monday

NFL teams frequently welcome notable names to practice, and the San Francisco 49ers have never been an exception. On Monday, former Stanford Provost, Secretary of State, and National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice was on hand for 49ers practice. According to Eric Branch, Rice is friends with assistant coach Dana Bible, who served as Stanford’s offensive coordinator when Rice was provost.

Branch said Rice spoke with Chip Kelly, Trent Baalke, and Al Guido, and even spoke to the team briefly at the end of practice. Rice is a huge football fan, once suggesting a dream job would be NFL Commissioner. She also currently serves on the College Football Playoff selection committee.

Let’s keep politics out of this, and just focus on Rice’s football interest.
