Golden Nuggets: 49ers finally playing (kind of) real football

Sunday, August 14th, 2016 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from around the Internet.

Do you have any idea what the San Francisco 49ers are going to look like this season? I don’t, other than, of course, the sneaking suspicion that not even Chip Kelly can make this roster look a whole lot better than it did a season ago.

Then again, I’ve also been incredibly discouraged by the talk that the 49ers’ quarterback battle between Blaine Gabbert and Colin Kaepernick is actually over before its begun. This is speculation of course, but Gabbert seems to have a leg up and Kaepernick’s injury has occasionally been an issue.

Point being — I don’t think the 49ers can find any level of acceptable success with Gabbert at quarterback. That Semaj Ydarb fellow is a bit more open to the idea of Gabbert experiencing success, I just personally don’t see it.

But hey — the preseason is a thing! Football is actually happening! The 49ers are going to be doing some of the footballs today! I’ll shut up and get to your links!
