The San Francisco 49ers sat Colin Kaepernick on Sunday against the Houston Texans, and Chip Kelly said he remains day-to-day with his shoulder fatigue. In the post-game press conference, Kelly was asked if Kaepernick would be available this week against the Denver Broncos. He said he has been told Kaepernick will be available, but he also said the team would not push it to make sure he was back at 100 percent.
The 49ers practice schedule is not yet clear for the coming week, although we do know the team will head to Denver for a joint practice at the end of the week. My guess is Tuesday we’ll start to get a better handle on Kaepernick’s status for the second preseason game.
Gabbert was in for the first three series of the game, and was up and down. Until Kaepernick gets on the field, Gabbert has some cushion. But if the 49ers can get Kaepernick back on the field this weekend against Denver, this competition could get a little more interesting.
Fooch’s update - Cam Inman asked Kap for comment
#49ers Colin Kaepenick declined comment (politely) when I asked him at his locker about his shoulder and if had MRI. "I'm not talking today"
