Golden Nuggets: Will we see Colin Kaepernick practice this week?

San Francisco 49ers links for Monday, August 22, 2016.

Good morning! Week 2 of the preseason is in the rear view mirror, and Week 3 is upon us. The San Francisco 49ers face the Green Bay Packers on Friday night, which means practice gets back underway today. The team will have practice Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, likely a walkthrough of some kind on Thursday, and then the game on Friday. The three practices will include media availability, but starting today, the team no longer has to allow media access to team drills.

This is particularly notable this week because Colin Kaepernick may or may not get back into the mix of the quarterback competition. Chip Kelly said on Sunday that Kaepernick will see more work on Monday. He threw before Saturday’s game, getting extensive work in on a variety of passes. Kelly said Kaepernick would throw more on Monday, but would not commit to specifically what that might entail. Maybe he is involved in team drills, maybe not. With the media booted off the field at the start of team drills, it might take a little longer to find out what’s going on.

Considering where things stand in the quarterback competition, this is kind of a big deal. We’ll see if the media are informed of Kaepernick’s practice status on Monday, and what he does the rest of the week. In the meantime, we get to wait and see what happens.
