Welcome to preseason Week 3! The San Francisco 49ers host the Green Bay Packers in what many view as the “dress rehearsal” game. The starters will play a significant number of snaps, potentially getting into the third quarter of the game. Neither coach has been overly specific, but there will be plenty of chance to evaluate the 1s.
There are of course plenty of questions about the 1s to be answered in this game. The biggest is the quarterback position, but we’ll also be watching the offensive guards, the inside linebackers, the cornerbacks, and more. Given how things are developing, I don’t expect to get all the answers we need on Friday, but it will get us moving in the right direction.
I feel like a lot of these questions will spill over into the final preseason game. That being said, the first official round of roster cuts is this coming Tuesday. We’ll want to keep a particular eye on any DNPs, and players who get late fourth quarter snaps.
