The San Francisco 49ers face the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4 of the 2016 season, and there is a decent chance they will be facing Dak Prescott and not Tony Romo. The Cowboys announced on Saturday that Romo suffered a broken bone in his back. Multiple media are reporting Romo could miss 6-10 weeks with the injury.
It is not surprising Romo got hurt, but it does make things that much more interesting in the NFC East. And now, the 49ers might get to face the rookie many fans were interested in prior to the 2016 NFL Draft. A 6-10 week absence would result in Romo returning sometime between the week of October 9, and the week of of November 6. The Cowboys won’t commit to any specific timetable, so I suppose he could be back the week earlier against the 49ers. My guess though is that he misses the game, and we see Dak Prescott.
The Cowboys have gotten impressive work from Prescott through three games. They have taken advantage of his legs, and he has benefited from their great offensive line, but he is still executing with solid consistency. It will be interesting to see what happens as teams game-plan against him a bit more.
