49ers opponents: Panthers acquire Andy Lee from Browns

Former San Francisco 49ers punter Andy Lee is on the move! The Cleveland Browns traded him to the Carolina Panthers on Monday, according to NFL media reporter Ian Rapoport. The deal involves the Browns sending Lee and a seventh round pick to the Panthers for their backup punter Kasey Redfern, and a fourth round pick.

This means Lee not only moves to a potential playoff contender, but one the 49ers will face in Week 2. This would mark the second straight season they have faced Lee since dealing him away. They faced Cleveland on the road last year. It is two years of matchups, but we have yet to see his glorious return to the Bay Area.

When the 49ers traded Lee to the Browns, they got a 2017 seventh round pick in return. It’s safe to say the Browns did better in scoring a fourth round pick. Our so-called “draft ninja” was indeed out-ninja’d by the Browns!
