Hall of Fame Game cancelled due to field conditions

Levi’s Stadium has dealt with field conditions in recent years, but after Sunday, it might be forgotten!

There will be no Hall of Fame Game for 2016. So far, it seems like the game will not be rescheduled either.

Say what you want about the atrocious field at Levi’s stadium, it’s never been so bad the San Francisco 49ers have had to cancel their games. But it’s gotten to that point over at Canton Ohio’s Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, the site of the annual NFL Hall of Fame game.

Due to issues with the paint on the field, The NFL wisely made the decision to pull the plug on tonight’s Greenbay Packers/Indianapolis Colts preseason contest which would ceremoniously kick off the NFL season.

This isn’t the first time the game’s been cancelled or cut short. In 2011, the game was cancelled due to the NFL lockout. It also was ended early in 2003 due to severe lightning.

Keep in mind, it’s preseason, so it’s not like you’re missing the Super Bowl, but considering how long it’s been without a kickoff, this is better than nothing in some respects.

So now we just have to wait a bit longer until we get our first taste of the 2016 season.
