Colin Kaepernick kneels for National Anthem, joined by Eric Reid

The National Anthem is a wrap in San Diego, and Colin Kaepernick was not on his own. Safety Eric Reid joined him in taking a knee rather than standing for the Anthem. Kaepernick had sat the previous three games, but given the high profile nature, I could see the kneeling being a new option for him.

Prior to the Anthem, Kaepernick was standing next to former NFL long snapper and Green Beret Nate Boyer. They spoke prior to the game, and it sounds like had a good conversation. Now, seeing a teammate join Kaepernick in this protest is certainly going to make this a little more interesting. Especially considering Reid is one of the leader’s of the 49ers defense. I don’t believe any other players joined him, but it will be interesting to see how much further this whole thing goes.
