The San Francisco 49ers have one last practice on Sunday, likely just a walkthrough, and right guard Anthony Davis is back with the team, according to Matt Maiocco. Davis is listed as questionable for Monday’s game, and the team will not have to issue further reports on his status.
Davis was listed on Saturday as a DNP for practice, due to non-football reasons. There were reports he was meeting with family and considering retirement. Jennifer Lee Chan spoke with someone close to Davis, and that person said Davis was not going to retire. He had spoken with family in part because of concerns about his role at right guard. He and Trent Baalke reportedly spoke, and they seem to have cleared things up.
Trent Baalke has control over the 53-man roster, but Chip Kelly controls the game-day roster, including the starting lineup. Will we see him bench Davis for Andrew Tiller? Are things sufficiently clear that Davis will move back in at right guard? Is there something else that could happen? What crazy 24 hours it has been.
