Who will be inactive for 49ers-Rams, Week 1?

The San Francisco 49ers have to decide on even inactive players each week. Who will see deactivated for the season opener?

The San Francisco 49ers host the Los Angeles Rams Monday evening, and 90 minutes before kickoff, the team will need to announce seven inactive players. Teams carry 53 players on the roster, but only 46 are allowed to participate in the game. Injuries occupy several of the spots mosts weeks, and the rest are healthy scratches for one reason or another.

We’ll have the full inactive list Monday evening, but in the meantime, let us know who you think will be among them. Here are my predictions:

QB Christian Ponder
OL John Theus
S Marcus Cromartie
CB Chris Davis
ILB Nick Bellore
DT Glenn Dorsey
DT Quinton Dial

That group includes three healthy scratches in Ponder, Theus, and Cromartie, and four injured players. Marcus Cromartie is the one I’m not so sure about. He can play special teams, and is able to handle both cornerback and safety work. I thought about Anthony Davis as an inactive, but they need a swing tackle available. That would be either Davis or Theus. Another option is deactivating one of the running backs.

Chris Davis did not practice the entire week due to a hamstring injury. Bellore has been recovering from a preseason knee injury. He was a limited participant all week, and my guess is with ILBs on the roster having special teams experience, it makes sense to wait.

Glenn Dorsey seems like the easier call than Quinton Dial, but Chip Kelly has suggested both will be available Monday. I’m skeptical on Dorsey, a little less so on Dial. But for now, that’s my prediction.
