49ers-Rams inactives: Joshua Garnett, Keith Reaser inactive, Anthony Davis active but not starting

The 49ers inactives include a first round pick, and some key veterans.

Fooch’s update: The 49ers announced that Andrew Tiller will start at right guard, and Anthony Davis will be an active reserve. Jennifer Chan reported over the weekend that Davis will be exclusively a tackle moving forward.

The San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams released their inactive lists for Week 1 Monday Night Football. Defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey, and cornerbacks Chris Davis and Keith Reaser are all inactive, having been on the injury report this past week. The good news is Quinton Dial is active, which would suggest we will see him in the starting lineup.

Dorsey is not a surprise given how little work he had done during team drills thus far. He had not even started that kind of work until Friday, so his chances of being active for this first game were slim.

The absence of Reaser and Davis means plenty of opportunities for Dontae Johnson and Rashard Robinson when the 49ers get into their sub packages. Additionally, safety Marcus Cromartie can play cornerback, so he could be busy.

First round pick Joshua Garnett is among the team’s inactives for Week 1. If Anthony Davis is not playing guard, that would suggest Marcus Martin is the primary reserve interior lineman, and Davis is the swing tackle.

49ers inactives: QB Christian Ponder, CB Keith Reaser, CB Chris Davis, OG Joshua Garnett, OL John Theus, DT Glenn Dorsey, DT Taylor Hart

Rams inactives: QB Jared Goff, WR Pharoh Cooper, CB E.J. Gaines, CB Steve Williams, T Pace Murphy, WR Nelson Spruce, DE Matt Longacre
