The San Francisco 49ers and Carolina Panthers squared off on Sunday, marking their first matchup since Colin Kaepernick and company beat the Panthers in the 2014 divisional round. This time around, Newton was still starting for the Panthers, but Kaepernick was sitting as the No. 2 quarterback.
The two quarterbacks had a chance to meet at midfield following the game, and it led to what might be new favorite picture. Someone got this picture just as the team were interacting. The timing is perfect in terms of the look each player is giving each other. I’m guessing they were exchanging general pleasantries, particularly since they’ve known each other dating back to the 2011 NFL Draft. However, the looks on their respective faces are kind of perfect in light of all the chatter over responses to Kaepernick’s National Anthem protest.
Twitter “Moments” has compiled quite a few of the responses, which you can view here. Feel free to offer up your own captions for this picture.
