49ers-Seahawks injury report: Thomas Rawls, Germain Ifedi listed as doubtful

New, comments

No surprises, but some notable absences in Week 3.

The Seattle Seahawks wrapped up practice Friday afternoon, and along with the San Francisco 49ers, released their final injury report. There are no surprises, but some pertinent names listed that are worth noting for Sunday’s game.

Running back Thomas Rawls is listed as doubtful with a shin injury. Technically a doubtful player could play, but they almost never do. I think Jason Witten is the only example of a doubtful player I’ve ever seen play. Pete Carroll suggested Rawls might play, but once the doubtful designation was listed, it became pretty clear he would not play. This means Christine Michael will get the start and the bulk of the carries for Seattle. Rawls rushed for 200+ yards against the 49ers last season, but the defensive front is hopefully improved enough to prevent Michael from doing the same thing.

Germain Ifedi is listed as doubtful and also is not expected to play. Pete Carroll pointed to his absence as a reason for the team’s OL issues. The rookie is replaced by J’Marcus Webb who has experience, but is not a particularly good lineman. The entire Seahawks offensive line is a question mark, so getting some pressure will be critical.
