The San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys released their first practice participation reports on Wednesday, and there are no real surprises. Vance McDonald and Jimmie Ward both sat out for the 49ers, while Garrett Celek was limited. Dez Bryant and La’el Collins both sat out for the Cowboys. No surprises.
It is worth noting that Arik Armstead is still dealing with his shoulder injury. He played 28 snaps against the Seahawks, after 41 and 35 the previous two weeks. Someone asked Chip Kelly about that, and the 49ers head coach said it was not a big deal.
“I think he missed two or three series just because he had something, but he came back in and said he was fine. So, I mean, there’s no issue. He’s not on any lists. He’s not missing anything. He going full today in practice.”
Armstead suffered the injury prior to the first preseason game last month, and he did not play any preseason snaps. He acknowledged surgery was a possibility down the road, but he can play through it this season as long as keeps up his maintenance. It will be interesting to see how his snap counts reflect this over the remaining 13 games.
