The San Francisco 49ers have low expectations heading into the 2016 season, and it is reflected in a variety of odds. We have seem them listed among the lowest for Super Bowl odds, and a new set of Bovada odds add to it.
Bovada released odds for who would finish the best regular season record, and who would finish with the worst regular season record. It is no surprise the 49ers are listed at the bottom of the best, and the top of the worst. They are listed at 200/1 to achieve the best record, tied with the Cleveland Browns. They are listed at 5/1 to achieve the worst record, just behind the 4/1 Cleveland Browns.
I really wouldn’t take either bet this season with the 49ers. The worst record bet is probably the better option, just based on the 49ers schedule. But even still, I think the defense and offensive line will be good enough that it is not a particularly good value bet. You can get a win total at 5.5 or 6, and while the payout is not much, it’s a more realistic wager.
Here are the best and worst record bets. For best record, I think the Cardinals and Chiefs might be two of the better bets. If either claims their division, they could very well finish with the best record. On the other end, the Browns make sense. I suppose we could say the 49ers, but I’d prefer to not bet on them being truly awful. Who would you take?
