The NFL cut down to 53-man rosters on Saturday, and that means upwards of 700 players have been added to the market. Vested veterans (players with four or more years of service time) automatically become free agents, but anybody with less than four years of service time must go through waivers. I explained the process here. Waivers will run Sunday at 10 a.m. PT, at which point we’ll find out if the 49ers make any claims.
While we wait for news on that, I thought I’d put together a list of notable players cut today. Some are veteran free agents, while others will go through waivers. I’m just dumping a few names here, and we can take the discussion from there. The 49ers have a 53-man roster, but there is a decent chance it is not the 53-man roster we see next week against the Los Angeles Rams.
