The San Francisco 49ers closed out their week of practice on Friday, and nothing changed in the participation report. Jimmie Ward sat out, Vance McDonald and Garrett Celek were limited, and everybody else was full. The team will likely hold a walkthrough on Saturday, and then it will be game day.
The team formally ruled Ward out for the game with his quadricep injury. The 49ers announced early in the week that Ward was week-to-week with the injury, so it is not surprising that he will not play. Keith Reaser is expected to start in his place, although Rashard Robinson will likely see more playing time than normal. And depending on how his practice week went, it could be possible for Robinson to even start. It will probably be Reaser, but keep an eye on Robinson.
The 49ers turn around after this game and play the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday Night Football next week. Odds would seem to be pretty good Ward will sit that one out as well. The team will have ten days to rest and recover after the Cardinals game, so why push it?
