Fooch’s update 11:34 a.m.: The 49ers have issued a statement
"The San Francisco 49ers organization is aware of the media report regarding Bruce Miller. We are gathering the relevant facts of this matter and will continue to monitor the situation."
San Francisco 49ers tight end Bruce Miller was arrested Sunday evening on an assault charge, according to KTVU (the Bay Area FOX station).
KTVU is slowly adding specifics to the article. The arrest happened Sunday evening in San Francisco. They are reporting he tried to check into the Fisherman's Wharf Marriott Sunday evening, but was told it was full. It gets kind of weird from there. The sources are telling KTVU that Miller returned the next day, knocked on a guest’s room, the guest told him he had the wrong room, and Miller allegedly attacked the guest and then the guest’s father. Miller reportedly fled, and was later arrested. Give the KTVU a link to get more details.
We’ll wait for more specifics from the police, from the 49ers, and maybe from Miller. The team has begun preparations for their season opener against the Rams. I believe their first full team practice of the week is Wednesday, but they have meetings and work to do before then. The 49ers will have to make some kind of statement in the meantime. Miller was arrested a year ago on a spousal battery charge. He pled down to misdemeanor disturbing the peace, and had to go attend a 16-week domestic violence counseling program.
We’ll keep an eye on this developing story.
