The San Francisco 49ers have released tight end Bruce Miller following his arrest on assault charges. Miller was arrested Sunday evening (or early Monday morning) following a bizarre incident at a San Francisco hotel in which he allegedly went to the wrong room, attacked a guest who told him he was at the wrong room, and also attacked the guest’s father, sending both to the hotel.
This is Miller’s second arrest in the past year-and-a-half. He was arrested on spousal battery charges a year ago spring after an incident with his then fiancee. He eventually pled out to a misdemeanor disturbing the peace charge, and went through a 16-week domestic violence program.
Miller stuck with the team, through that, and begin a position change this offseason. He made the 53-man roster, but the second arrest was enough to release him. The team announced earlier in the day the were getting the relevant facts, and this would seem to indicate they got enough facts to decide to release him.
