The San Francisco 49ers released their first practice participation report of the 2016 season, and it includes great news about running back Carlos Hyde. After working his way through the concussion protocol over the past week and a half, Hyde was not listed on the 49ers report. It means he has been fully cleared to play on Monday.
It is possible Blaine Gabbert builds on last season, and is able to develop a decent career in Chip Kelly’s offense. It is possible, but I would say it is also reasonable to be skeptical about Gabbert and the passing game. That makes the ground game so critical this season. If the 49ers want to put a competitive offense on the field, they need big performances on the ground. The offensive line might just be suited for it, and if Hyde can stay healthy, that could be huge for the offense.
In the meantime, here’s the full injury report. We discussed the Davis, Reaser inclusions here, and the Dorsey inclusion here.
