Good morning, 49ers fans! The San Francisco 49ers are in a bit of a holding pattern for the time-being. They will interview Kyle Shanahan, George Paton, and Terry McDonough in Atlanta on Saturday. At that point, things will potentially progress pretty quickly. The team will not be able to announce their head coach hiring until after the Super Bowl. They can announce their GM hiring before then, but it would not surprise me if they packaged the announcements together.
In the meantime, George Paton is interviewing with the Indianapolis Colts, and Jim Irsay will spend the week interviewing additional candidates. I would not be surprised if this ended up being Peyton Manning as president and Jimmy Raye hired as general manager. But whomever they get clearly gets an intriguing situation with Andrew Luck as the cornerstone quarterback.
It was an otherwise quiet day for the 49ers. The Pro Bowl began practices this week, but the 49ers have nobody in attendance. If you felt compelled to watch the Pro Bowl in the past because of 49ers participants, you’re in luck this week!
