Golden Nuggets: 49ers make surprise general manager hire with John Lynch

New, comments

Monday, January 30th, 2016 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from around the Internet.

Good morning everyone! The San Francisco 49ers have a new general manager, and though Niners Nation was the first to report that there was a secret third candidate ... I think it’s safe to say that everyone is surprised that John Lynch is the team’s new general manager.

The fact that Lynch, who has no front office experience, called up Kyle Shanahan and convinced him to hire him is seriously concerning but I guess that’s where the 49ers are at this point. I’d love to see both find success and I hope they can, but I’m certainly not optimistic with this hire. Are they hiring the Jim Tomsula of general managers?

Anyway, I wrote a whole lot of words about Jed York and his frequent abuse of the name Bill Walsh, so check out that later on today. But I’m tired so let’s just get on with your links for the day.
