The San Francisco 49ers wrapped up their first interview on Wednesday, speaking with Buffalo Bills interim head coach Anthony Lynn. They follow that up on Thursday with a pair of interviews in Green Bay. They will interview Packers director of football operations Eliot Wolf, and director of player personnel Brian Gutekunst, according to Tom Pelissero.
Both men report to general manager Ted Thompson. The Packers employ a draft-heavy approach, and have found success with it. Prior to this past offseason, the Packers had signed eight unrestricted free agents that played snaps with the team dating back to 2005, when Thompson first joined the team.
If the 49ers end up going with Wolf or Gutekunst, we’ll do plenty of breakdown of the Packers drafts dating back to the early 2000s when the two executives took on various roles with the team. It is hard to fully assess lower level personnel folks, but we can at least look at draft and free agency classes. You can learn about the Packers various free agency signings here. You can learn more about their draft classes at Pro Football Reference.
