2016 All Pro team features 17 first-time honorees

New, comments

Nope, no 49ers.

The Associated Press announced their 2016 all pro teams, and no surprise, the San Francisco 49ers were not represented. Long gone are the days when Justin Smith was earning All Pro honors at two positions, or Patrick Willis and NaVorro Bowman were racking up dual-All Pro honors at inside linebacker.

You can’t really make an argument for anybody on the roster to even be a second teamer, or even really in the discussion. Carlos Hyde if he had been able to stay healthy all season might have been a discussion-piece. DeForest Buckner could deserve some rookie team consideration. Beyond that, there’s not a whole lot of much.

There are 17 first-time selections on the All Pro team, including three rookies. The rookies included running back Ezekiel Elliott, punt returner Tyreek Hill, and right tackle Jack Conklin. Hill was a unanimous pick, joining kicker Justin Tucker as the only unanimous picks.
