The San Francisco 49ers are scheduled to meet with New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels on Saturday, and for the time being, that might be their only interview of the day. Matt Barrows has been hitting the phones trying to figure out if the 49ers will get an interview with Patriots executive Nick Caserio, but he has come up with nothing so far.
No interview set up between #49ers & #Patriots personnel guy Nick Caserio. I reached out -- several times -- to Pats and ... crickets.

This does not mean an interview is not happening, but for now, it seems unlikely. Caserio has turned down interviews in the past, and I can certainly see why he would be happy sticking in his current situation in New England.
If there is no interview, that’s that with regard to Caserio. But in getting a little creative in my thinking, what if this was a test of Jed York and Paraag Marathe. Nick Caserio tells them, you get to interview me, but if word of it leaks, I’ll know it was you and the interview will be off.
Adam Schefter reported the team requested an interview, but nothing has leaked about when an interview would happen, or even if it would. The Saturday schedule has been assumed based on the McDaniels interview. So, maybe if we want to get a little crazy, the interview is scheduled, and nobody is saying a word as a test. Given the fact that the 49ers have leaked like a sieve for much of the past three years, maybe Caserio has decided he likes the cap space, draft picks, and potentially getting McDaniels with him, but he wants Jed York and Paraag Marathe to prove themselves to him.
Or, he just turned down the interview, and that’s that.
