The 2017 NFL playoffs continue with Saturday wild card action between the Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions. If Seattle wins, they advance to face the Atlanta Falcons. If Detroit wins, they advance to face the Dallas Cowboys. The game kicks off at 5:15 p.m. PT on NBC, with Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth in the booth, and Michele Tafoya on the sideline.
The Seahawks stumbled a bit to close the season. They were 7-2-1 heading into Thanksgiving weekend, but from there they alternated wins and losses the rest of the year. They had no trouble winning the NFC West, but the slow finish cost them a first round bye. Their offensive line has been a mess, which has resulted in a lot of inconsistency for their run game.
The Lions were 1-3 after the first quarter of the season, but then won eight of nine to climb into the division lead. They squandered that as they lost three straight. A big reason for the poor finish was Matthew Stafford’s finger injury. He is playing through it, but it does not bode well for the team against a still strong Seahawks defense.
Seattle is an eight point favorite at home. It is a pretty big margin, but at home against a Lions team whose quarterback has a bad finger? I am inclined to lay the points with Seattle.
