Golden Nuggets: Coaching candidates, declined interviews and more from 49erland

New, comments

Sunday, January 8th, 2017 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from around the Internet.

Good morning everyone. Did you happen to enjoy the playoff games yesterday, since it was football that didn’t involve or concern the San Francisco 49ers? I sure didn’t, but that’s because I’m a curmudgeon and I don’t like anything anymore.

In actual news regarding the 49ers, the head coach and general manager search is ongoing. The 49ers officially confirmed that they are interviewing New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, which is good to see. Unfortunately, it seems as though Nick Caserio, personnel man for the Patriots, isn’t interested in the 49ers’ general manager job and declined things.

Then you have the talk of McDaniels being locked in with Louis Riddick and I’m a little nervous. I don’t necessarily like package deals so much and like to consider the candidates on an individual basis. But such a deal would likely confirm the 49ers are actually caring about synergy and work relationships.

Something I’m not convinced of just yet. Onto the links.
