The San Francisco 49ers have been getting a lot of pressure on Carson Palmer, and finally, they closed the deal. Rookie defensive lineman Solomon Thomas got a key third down sack, which also happened to be his first career sack.
The Cardinals were driving, but DeForest Buckner and then Arik Armstead got big hits on Palmer. On 3rd and 10, Palmer stepped up in the pocket, and when nothing was there, Thomas was able to close the deal for the sack.
The 49ers pass rush has been getting through against a banged up Cardinals offensive line, but they have struggled to close the deal. With several big hits in the first half, they might finally be able to get some consistent sacks. Defensive coordinator Robert Saleh talked about getting that first olive out to open things up, and maybe the olive is officially out.
The 49ers currently lead the Cardinals 6-3 after an exchange of field goals. Watch Solomon Thomas’ first sack below.
