On Sunday, the 49ers could be facing their future quarterback, Washington’s Kirk Cousins. Kirk has and continues to be rumored as the quarterback Kyle Shanahan is targeting next offseason. Kirk is playing on a 2nd consecutive franchise tag and will receive a massive contract on his next deal. Sunday could be a glimpse into the 49ers’ future.
On Tuesday, the 49ers made roster moves to help their depleted defensive backs. They signed veteran Leon Hall to the roster and Asa Jackson was placed on injured reserve. Leon has played in the NFL for 10 seasons and the 49ers worked him out in June. Asa and Ahkello Witherspoon were both injured against the Colts. Asa sustained a hamstring injury and Ahkello suffered a concussion.
While the defensive backs keep getting injured, Reuben Foster may be able to participate in practice on Wednesday. Kyle Shanahan made no guarantees that Reuben would be able to play against Washington on Sunday, but Reuben’s return would be exciting for the defense. He was only able to play 11 snaps in his 1st game and hasn’t played since. As long as he’s fully healthy, getting game reps will be great for him.
