The San Francisco 49ers wrap up their season-long three-game road trip, heading east to face Washington in Week 6. The 49ers continue their search for win No. 1 on the season. They sit at 0-5, having lost their last four games by a combined 11 points. They became the second team in the Super Bowl era to lose four straight games each by less than a field goal.
The 49ers get to face off against Kirk Cousins and company, giving fans a chance to check out a potential 2018 quarterback option. Washington is a double digit favorite in this one. They were sitting at ten points for a while, but the line has climbed as high as 12.5 points at some sportsbooks, according to Odds Shark.
I can get the ten points in the Super Contest, which makes Washington kind of an intriguing pick. The Washington ground game is scuffling along, and likely losing Rob Kelley for the game does not help matters. However, that passing attack could give the 49ers some serious trouble. Chris Thompson in particular is a player to watch. Samaje Perine is expected to get the start in place of Kelley, but Thompson is the pass-catching threat. The 49ers have struggled covering running backs, although the potential return of Reuben Foster might help a little bit.
We took a look around some media, and I did come across one pick of a 49ers victory. ESPN’s Dan Graziano went out on a limb with his pick. There was also one loss but cover against the spread from Vinnie Iyer, and that’s about it. Will the 49ers finally get in the win column with a sizable upset?
