The San Francisco 49ers have made some big changes, but they remain winless and they remain doomed. They fought to a very close game, once again, against Washington, and made a change at quarterback in the process.
Welcome to the fold, C.J. Beathard. Please enjoy the crushing weight of this franchise’s doom in addition to any doom you may have personally accumulated on your own. It’s going to be a weird 11 weeks.
And before I forget, user anomalousclwyd put together some charts of the all-time history of the DOOM Index, which is pretty sweet. There’s fancy charts and you should definitely give it a look.
As usual, the results from past iterations of the DOOM Index can be found at this Imgur gallery. Last week, things took a pretty heavy swing back toward “most doomed” with 53 percent of voters going with that option, and just 4 percent of voters picking “least doomed.”
So ... we’re a week later. The 49ers have another loss. NaVorro Bowman is gone. Brian Hoyer is no longer the starting quarterback. There have been rumors about a Carlos Hyde trade. Things are a whole lot different. Kyle Shanahan is making big changes every other day, it seems.
