The San Francisco 49ers are signing defensive tackle Tony McDaniel, according to his agent, and now we can add another body to the depth chart. Adam Caplan is reporting the 49ers are signing defensive tackle Leger Douzable. Caplan reported that the team also worked out Lions defensive end Devin Taylor.
Douzable is on his second stint with the 49ers this year. The team signed him in August, after DeForest Buckner suffered an ankle injury. He was part of their first big round of roster cuts on September 1.
Douzable stands 6’4, 284 pounds. McDaniel seems more likely to get a chance at playing time in the coming weeks, but Douzable will get a chance to re-prove himself in practice. With this signing, the 49ers will need to find a second player to remove from the 53-man roster. They are likely to move Arik Armstead to injured reserve with his broken hand. Now they just need to figure out one more move.
