The San Francisco 49ers return for another week of football, and for the seventh straight week, we find ourselves hoping for victory number one. The 49ers host the Dallas Cowboys in Week 7. The game gets going at 1:05 p.m. PT on FOX, and will have Thom Brennaman and Troy Aikman calling the game from the booth, with Erin Andrews on the sideline. The 49ers might stink, but they get the No. 1 FOX crew (minus baseball announcing Joe Buck).

The 49ers remain winless on the season, but they are 4-2 against the spread. They have lost their last five games by a combined 13 points, setting an NFL record with five straight losses of less than a field goal. It’s getting a little ridiculous, and yet it is somehow an amazing example of “elegant tanking.”

The 49ers are a six-point underdog in this one, according to our friends at Odds Shark. The point total is currently sitting at 48, and is one of the highest of the weekend. The Cowboys defense has been a mess, particularly against rushing attacks. The 49ers defense has shown improvement this season, but is struggling with consistency in the pass rush. If they can’t get to Dak Prescott, this could be a long day.

The 49ers are expected to welcome back linebacker Reuben Foster, who has been out since Week 1 with a high ankle sprain. Head coach Kyle Shanahan would not commit to him 100 percent playing, on Friday, he said he would be surprised if Foster did not play. That likely means he will start next to Ray-Ray Armstrong, with Brock Coyle returning to a reserve role. However, given that Foster has not played since Week 1, maybe we see more of a rotation this week.

Dallas is mostly healthy. Left tackle Tyron Smith has been dealing with a back injury, and while it has cost him practice time, he is still playing. The more notable presence will be running back Ezekiel Elliott. He is facing a six-game suspension for multiple domestic violence allegations, but is in the midst of a lawsuit against the NFL. A hearing is likely coming in the next week or two
