Fantasy football start/sit, Week 7: Yes, I am starting C.J. Beathard

Sure, why not!

San Francisco 49ers rookie quarterback C.J. Beathard makes his first career start today against the Dallas Cowboys, and you better believe I will be starting him in my fantasy football lineup.

OK, maybe a little context is in order. In my 14-team keeper league, I have Matthew Stafford as my starting quarterback. He is on bye this week, so I had to find another quarterback for this week. Available quarterbacks included Case Keenum, Blake Bortles, Eli Manning, Jacoby Brissett, Josh McCown, Andy Dalton, DeShone Kizer, Jay Cutler, and Joe Flacco. Not exactly a murderers’ row of options.

Amidst all this, I decided, why not give the 49ers rookie a shot? The Cowboys give up the eighth most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks, and their defense is generally a mess. I think we see more of the run game today from the 49ers, but I could see Beathard having a decent game if this thing stays close. Add in a potential run or two from him, and I’m thinking maybe he is worth the one-week add.

Since adding him, my opponent was wise enough to have Amari Cooper in his starting lineup, so I’m already down 33-0. I probably won’t win this week, so it makes it even easier to stick with the Beathard decision.
