The San Francisco 49ers lost an ugly one to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, and there were few if any positives to take from the game. The team continues its rebuilding process with rookies getting more playing time, and injuries resulted in several notable changes throughout the game. You can view the snap count below, or in the gamebook PDF.
The team made a notable change in their inactives, benching wide receiver and kick returner Victor Bolden, and activating wide receiver Kendrick Bourne. The 49ers played five wide receivers throughout the game, and they used a fairly heavy rotation. Bourne was fifth in snaps, but he still played 35 percent of offensive snaps.
Trent Taylor tied Pierre Garçon, marking the first time he has been higher than third on the wide receiver depth chart in snaps. We also saw Cole Hikutini get a bump in snaps. He ended up with more work than Garrett Celek for the first time.
The 49ers had a pair of significant injuries on the offensive line. Right tackle Trent Brown suffered a concussion, and right guard Brandon Fusco suffered a biceps injury. Garry Gilliam replaced Brown, while Zane Beadles replaced Fusco. The team returns to practice on Wednesday, at which point we’ll get a better handle on the status of Brown and Fusco.
