The 2017 NFL trade deadline is a week from Tuesday, and while NFL trades are not common, it would not surprise me to see one or two between now and then. One player who could end up getting dealt is Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant.
There have been rumors Bryant wants out, amidst displeasure with playing time. There have been the requisite denials by everybody, but at times it seems more and more like he will be out the door sooner rather than later.
On Sunday, Bryant was targeted twice, and finished the game with one reception for three yards. On Monday, he called in sick for the normal Monday meetings. I don’t know if those two are related, but one certainly is left to wonder given the history involved.
And no, I do not think John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan will try and trade for Bryant. He’s a talented football player, but with drug suspensions and his displeasure with his situation now, I would imagine Lynch & Co. would not look at him as a viable option for this rebuilding project.
