NFL: Dallas Cowboys at San Francisco 49ers

The run of close losses is over. The Dallas Cowboys beat down the 49ers to the score of 40-10. Ezekiel Elliot ran all over the 49ers defense for 147 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also took a screen pass 72 yards for a touchdown. The defense looked like last year’s defense. They gave up 501 yards of total offense with 265 coming on the ground and did not generate a sack on Dak Prescott.

Rookie C.J. Beathard was given his 1st NFL start after Brian Hoyer was benched last week. He had a rough debut against a fierce Dallas defense. He was sacked 5 times and fumbled twice, losing both. One of those fumbles came when DaMarcus Lawrence strip sacked Beathard that ended a promising drive that had the 49ers at the Dallas 5 yard line. He did score the 49ers lone touchdown on a run, but that was with the game out of hand.

Reuben Foster made his return to the field after suffering an injury in the 1st game. Unfortunately, he suffered a rib injury in the 3rd quarter and was taken out of the game. He went through a MRI and x-rays on Monday. The tests came back negative and he is expected to be ready for next Sunday’s game against the Eagles. Right tackle Trent Brown also left the game. He suffered a concussion and it is going through the concussion protocol.
