The NFL closes out the Week 8 Sunday schedule with an intriguing inter-conference matchup on Sunday Night Football. The Detroit Lions host the Pittsburgh Steelers in a huge game for both teams. The game kicks off on NBC at 5:30 p.m. PT with Al Michaels, Cris Collinsworth, and Michele Tafoya on the call.
The Steelers sit at 5-2, atop the AFC North. The most notable news for Pittsburgh is the decision to bench wide receiver Martavis Bryant. He has been complaining about his playing time, and some social media comments about JuJu Smith-Schuster led to what is effectively a one-game paid suspension. Bryant very well could be dealt by the trade deadline.
They face a Lions team with a 3-3 record that has them a half game back of Green Bay and two games back of Minnesota for first place. There is a huge clump of teams sitting 3-3, 4-3, or 3-4 in the NFC, competing for a wild card berth. They’re a field goal underdog in this one, but I think they spring the upset, and I am picking them to win it outright.
Below is all you need to know to watch the action on Sunday, and this will serve as our game thread for SNF.
