Eric Reid will get his chance to get some film at linebacker

With Reuben Foster inactive expect to see a lot of Reid facing the Eagles

NFL: Denver Broncos at San Francisco 49ers Sergio Estrada-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers released their inactives and Reuben Foster was on the list after all signs pointed to him being available during the week. Now, newly converted safety Eric Reid will get a lot of time at linebacker facing the Eagles. Reid already mentioned that with the 49ers reluctant to ink a future deal with him, he will at least get film of himself at linebacker for when he hits the free agency market.

Reid, who made his first start at linebacker facing the Cowboys, has had a good week at practice according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. After some trepidation, Reid has embraced the role and welcomed the mental challenge of the transition. Reid is known as being a very smart player and one of the few players capable this task.

Brock Coyle has been announced as the starter in place of Foster but that doesn’t necessarily mean we won’t see Ray-Ray Armstrong at all. The 49ers have rotated players when performances have not been up to par. If so, Armstrong will probably also see some playing time. While having Reid and Coyle as the starting linebackers may not be the best match up for a strong Eagles team, the inclement weather could help be an equalizer. The Eagles also had a shorter week, playing on Monday night.
