NFL: San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

Another touchdown-less performance from the 49ers offense wasted a great performance from their defense. The 49ers lost their 3rd game to a NFC West opponent after losing 18-15 to Arizona and their 2nd after giving up a game-winning touchdown. The 49ers drop to 0-4 for the season and Kyle Shanahan is still waiting for his 1st head coaching win.

A week and a half after scoring 5 touchdowns against the LA Rams, the 49ers were only able to score 5 field goals against Arizona. Brian Hoyer is having trouble leading the 49ers offense into the end zone. His performance and offensive penalties hindered the team in a game that the 49ers could have won. Hoyer was 24 for 49 attempts for 234 yards and an interception.

While Hoyer continues to struggle, Kyle Shanahan has no plans to go to rookie quarterback C.J. Beathard. Kyle has no incentive to go to the rookie knowing that he has a 6 year deal that allows him time to figure out the quarterback situation. The 49ers were never expected to make the playoffs this season, so Kyle will likely continue with Hoyer for the rest of season and make a quarterback decision in the upcoming offseason.
