The 49ers are winless this season and that falls mostly on their offense. They have failed to score a touchdown in 3 of their 4 games. Brian Hoyer is struggling, but head coach Kyle Shanahan plans to stick with him. Kyle is not ready to throw rookie C.J. Beathard into the fray. While Hoyer’s performance has not been good, some offensive players have performed well.

One rookie that has been thrown onto the field is making waves. Trent Taylor is 2nd in receptions for rookie receivers behind Rams’ Cooper Kupp. On Sunday, he was targeted 10 times and caught 5 of those throws for 47 yards. He could become a bigger part of the offense as the season goes on.

Tackle Trent Brown is having a great season so far. He is ranked by Pro Football Focus as the 4th best tackle in the NFL and has allowed only 5 pressures. As a unit, the offensive line is ranked #10 in pass blocking efficiency. They have only allowed 4 sacks this season and 41 pressures, which makes Hoyer’s struggles even more eye-opening.

In injury news, Eric Reid and Reuben Foster are still expected to miss Sunday’s game. Kyle Shanahan is not ruling out either playing, but the following Sunday’s game is more realistic for their return. Marquise Goodwin suffered a concussion and is in the concussion protocol. Carlos Hyde played on Sunday through his hip injury and his playing status is currently up in the air.
