Welcome back for Week 5 of Thursday Night Football. We get an intriguing inter-conference matchup tonight, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hosting the New England Patriots. The game will broadcast in the two local markets on NFL Network and CBS, and will be live streamed on Amazon Prime everywhere else. The game kicks off at 5:30 p.m. PT, with Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth calling the game from the booth, and Heather Cox on the sideline.
The Patriots are a 5.5-point favorite, and the public is buying in fairly heavy this week. New England has been pretty inconsistent through the first four weeks. They were stunned at home in the season opener, but given how the Chiefs are playing since, it’s not the most shocking result. They seemed to bounce back with a road win over New Orleans, but they had to scramble back at home against Houston, and then lost at home against Carolina.
The Bucs are off to a solid start in a season in which many think they could contend in the NFC South. They’re a tough team to figure out at this point. They have wins over Chicago and the New York Giants, but a loss to the Minnesota Vikings. I think they’re a quality team, but this is a big test for them. I have them covering the spread, but I’m not sure if they pull the outright victory.
