The San Francisco 49ers and Indianapolis Colts get going in just over an hour, and that means the inactives are official. There are no surprises on the inactives, but injuries mean rookie Ahkello Witherspoon will make his active roster debut.
The 49ers deactivated Dekoda Watson and Adrian Colbert. They are dealing with injuries that left them DNPs all week in practice. Colbert’s absence means the 49ers need more depth at cornerback. Witherspoon will likely get special teams snaps, but barring further injuries, is unlikely to get defensive snaps. Asa Jackson has been the team’s primary backup at cornerback.
Reuben Foster and Eric Reid are inactive, hopefully for the last time. Both have been making progress, and the hope is they return to the practice field next week. If they can get in a full week of practice, they could play next week in Washington.
