The San Francisco 49ers return to practice on Wednesday for their first session of Week 9. They are preparing for their home game against the Arizona Cardinals, but this is a slightly bigger practice than normal. The 49ers acquired Jimmy Garoppolo in a trade earlier this week, and this marks his first time on the practice field with his new team. He has been studying the playbook since he was acquired, but now he gets to hit the practice field.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan will meet with the media at 12:40 p.m. PT. Following Shanahan’s press conference, the 49ers locker room will be open until 1:30, and that will include current starting quarterback C.J. Beathard meeting with the media. Eventually Garoppolo will supplant Beathard, but for this week, Beathard is the starter. Practice gets going at 1:40, with it open to the media until team drills begin. The first practice participation report will be released later in the afternoon.

The 49ers will stream Shanahan’s press conference on their website, and you can also watch it on Periscope and the team’s app. The 49ers beat writers will also have updates from Shanahan’s session and those of the players. I’ve embedded our 49ers beat writer Twitter list so you can follow along. If you don’t see it, click here.
