The San Francisco 49ers got off the schneid on Sunday, securing their first win of the 2017 season, and the Kyle Shanahan/John Lynch era. There were plenty of hugs on the sideline after the win, and even an appropriately sized Gatorade “shower.”
However, in the locker room, whatever the players and coaches were holding back, they let it loose. In the video above, you can see one person with a boombox, some yelling and screaming as Kyle Shanahan comes in, and then a big Gatorade cooler being dumped. When Shanahan came out for post-game press conference, he looked particularly wet, and this explains it.
The boombox actually has a slightly interesting story. During Sunday’s game, Laura Okmin reported that when the 49ers were coming out of the locker room after halftime, they had someone standing with the boombox and music playing. Apparently since they had the lead at that point, the ideas was to pump them up to get a defensive stand on that first drive after halftime. It’s my understand the boombox belongs to Trent Brown.
Maybe the boombox is going to become a thing!
