C.J. Beathard, Carlos Hyde nominated for Week 10 Player of the Week awards

The 49ers offense put in some work against the New York Giants, and the unit is getting some recognition.

The San Francisco 49ers win over the New York Giants saw a strong offensive effort that is getting some praise as the bye week begins. Earlier today, we learned that quarterback C.J. Beathard was up for the Pepsi Rookie of the Week award. Now, Beathard and Carlos Hyde are up for the FedEx Air and Ground Player of the Week awards.

These are all fan voted awards that allow the NFL to slap a sponsor on something, but it’s still nice to see a little recognition for a team that has struggled much of this season. Beathard put together the best performance of his young career, while Hyde continues to put together a solid 2017 season. He has reached career highs in receptions and receiving yards, and has quietly put together a solid overall season. He has 866 total yards, putting him on pace for 1,385 total yards from scrimmage. That would easily surpass his career high from last year of 1,151 yards.

Hyde’s status is an interesting one to consider as the season progresses. Coming into the season, there were some questions about his fit in the offense. I think a lot of people assumed he was gone after this year, and that would be that. However, he has put together strong work alongside Matt Breida, and the running back market will be something to track next offseason. He could find a big offer, but if it is somewhat flat, maybe we see him re-sign with the 49ers?
